Privacy notice

Draft. This is a plain-language placeholder written before legal review. It describes what we intend to do during early access and will be replaced by a reviewed policy before a wider launch.

Kinforge Labs is an independent project built by two siblings. It is not yet a registered company. This page explains what information we collect during early access, why, who helps us process it, and how to ask us to delete it.

Who we are

Kinforge Labs runs this website and the early-access voice companion. You can reach us at hello@kinforgelabs.xyz.

The early-access list

When you request early access, we collect the email address you enter and, if you choose one, whether you are a parent, educator or partner. We use it only to contact you about early access. We do not sell it or use it for advertising.

The list is for adults. Please don’t ask a child to sign up.

Voice conversations

The companion works by voice. While a child is talking to it, we:

  • send the microphone audio to a speech-to-text service to turn it into words,
  • send those words, with recent conversation context and the child’s profile notes, to an AI model to write a reply,
  • send the reply to a text-to-speech service so it can be spoken aloud.

We save the written transcript of each conversation (what the child said and what the companion said) so the conversation can continue where it left off and adults can review it. We don’t keep recordings of the child’s voice ourselves. How long transcripts are kept during early access is still being decided; we’ll update this notice when it is.

Child profiles and memory

An adult creates a profile for each child with a nickname, age, and a few optional details such as gender and school year, so answers can fit the child. Over time the companion may keep short notes about a child’s interests and how they like things explained. Adults can read, correct or delete every note.

Services that process data for us

We use a small number of providers to run the voice experience. They process data on our behalf to provide their service:

  • ElevenLabs: speech-to-text, text-to-speech and short songs.
  • Anthropic: the AI model (Claude) that writes the companion’s replies.

We also use an email provider to send sign-in codes, and may use an additional content-moderation service as an extra safety check. We will list every provider here, with links to their own privacy terms, before a wider launch.

Children’s privacy and parental consent

The companion is designed for children, roughly ages 5 to 10, but only adults can create an account, add a child or start a session. We want a parent or guardian to agree before a child uses it, and to stay in control afterwards.

  • Consent first. A parent or guardian sets up the account and each child profile. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child without that adult’s permission.
  • Only what’s needed. We collect what the experience needs to work and to get better, and nothing for advertising.
  • Adults can see and delete. A parent can review a child’s profile, memory notes and conversation history, and ask us to delete any of it.

In the United States, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) sets rules for collecting information from children under 13, including verifiable parental consent. In the UK and EU, data protection law (including the GDPR’s rules for children, sometimes called GDPR-K) sets similar expectations, with the age of consent varying by country. We are working with these rules in mind, and the exact consent steps and rights will be confirmed in the reviewed version of this notice.

Deleting your information

To leave the early-access list, or to delete an account, a child’s profile, memory notes or conversation history, email hello@kinforgelabs.xyz from the address you signed up with. Tell us what you’d like removed and we will confirm once it’s done.

Changes

We will update this page as the product and this notice develop, and will tell early-access families about meaningful changes by email.
